FAMILY MEMBERSHIP HOME

Welcome. Your family’s connection work starts here.

Use this page to complete the practical steps, understand what to expect, and arrive ready for useful relational work.

Curiosity, care, and a willingness to participate are enough places to begin.

ONE WELCOME · TWO MEMBERSHIPS

Start with clarity, not paperwork overload.

Family Relational and Family Supersize members share the same relational foundation. Choose the agreement that matches your plan, then use the rest of this page to prepare.

BEFORE YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT

Three small steps that help the work begin well

You do not need a polished story or a perfect goal. These steps simply help your Relational Practitioner understand what matters and help your family arrive with a little more shared language.

STEP 1

Complete your membership agreement

Choose the form for your plan below. Each participating adult should read the agreements, and the person responsible for the membership should submit the form.

STEP 2

Notice what feels most important

Pay attention to moments of connection, disconnection, stuckness, hope, or confusion. You do not need to diagnose the pattern. Bring one example that feels worth understanding together.

STEP 3

Choose one relational intention

Try a sentence such as: “I want us to understand…,” “I hope we can practice…,” or “I would like help when….” Different family members may arrive with different intentions.

PRIVACY NOTE

Your responses do not live on this website.

The agreement forms will open in Bloomington Center for Connection’s organization-managed Google Workspace. Amy reviews responses first and shares only relevant information with the practitioner who will be working with your family.

WHAT KIND OF WORK IS THIS?

Relational practice grounded in advanced training

This is purposeful, structured family work informed by Relational-Cultural Theory. It is not generic coaching and it is not a substitute for emergency or high-acuity care.

RELATIONAL-CULTURAL THEORY

Connection is both the context and the practice

We pay attention to mutuality, authenticity, power, disconnection, repair, and the conditions that help every person matter. The goal is not to declare one person “the problem.”

ADVANCED PREPARATION

Your Relational Practitioner brings depth

Our practitioners have graduate-level training in mental health, human development, and family dynamics, along with advanced training in Relational-Cultural Theory and relational practice.

POSSIBLE BENEFITS

More clarity, choice, and connection

Families may gain shared language, understand patterns more clearly, practice more useful responses, and experience greater connection. Results cannot be guaranteed.

RISKS & SCOPE

Honest work can feel vulnerable

Difficult feelings or disagreements may surface. These appointments are not for medically acute, high-acuity, or emergency situations. Call 911 or 988 when immediate safety support is needed.

CONFIDENTIALITY & COLLABORATION

Clear permission supports coordinated family work

We use the same confidentiality standards we use in therapy. Information is not automatically shared among family members or practitioners simply because everyone belongs to the same family.

AMY REVIEWS FIRST

Access starts narrow

Responses are visible to Amy first. She can then give the assigned practitioner access to the information needed for that family’s work without opening other families’ records.

ONLY WHAT IS RELEVANT

Sharing follows your permission

When family members work with different practitioners, collaboration can help the team support the family as a whole. It happens only with specific consent.

YOUR CONSENT CAN CHANGE

Permission is continually sought and may be revoked

You may narrow, pause, or revoke collaboration consent at any time. We will explain any limits to confidentiality that apply.

PRACTICAL AGREEMENTS & FEEDBACK

How monthly appointments work

These guidelines apply to both Family Relational and Family Supersize memberships.

Useful starting agreements

  • Appointments and unused sessions do not roll into the next month.
  • A late cancellation may be rescheduled within the same month when space allows, but rescheduling is not guaranteed.
  • A no-call/no-show counts as use of that appointment and cannot be rescheduled.
  • You may change how you use a scheduled appointment—for example, a family appointment may become an individual meeting with Amy when that is the better use of the time.

BETWEEN APPOINTMENTS

Use RCT activities as warm-ups, not homework tests

Choose one brief activity when it feels useful. The point is to notice more clearly and bring richer material into the room—not to perform, persuade, or prove that anyone is right.

NOTICE WHAT HELPS

Five Good Things

Each person identifies experiences that bring zest, clarity, worth, productivity, or a desire for more connection. Compare what supports those experiences and what gets in the way.

PRACTICE WITH CARE

Supported Vulnerability

Choose something true but manageable to share. Before speaking, name what support would help you stay present; afterward, notice what the listener did that increased or reduced connection.

.

PREPARE FOR REPAIR

From Disconnection to Reconnection

Briefly name what happened, what you made it mean, what you needed, and one small next step toward repair. Bring the notes to your appointment rather than trying to force a resolution at home.

QUICK REFERENCE

Your membership at a glance

Your account and welcome message are the source for current scheduling details. These summaries help you choose the right agreement and remember the monthly guidelines.

FAMILY RELATIONAL MEMBERSHIP

One family relational appointment per calendar month

The appointment does not roll over. Within the available time, you may use the meeting flexibly when a different configuration would better support the work.

FAMILY SUPERSIZE MEMBERSHIP

A wider mix of monthly appointments

Use the Supersize agreement for the appointment package named in your welcome information. The same confidentiality, cancellation, no-show, collaboration, and no-rollover guidelines apply.
