CARE Assessment

The CARE assessment by Dr. Amy Banks, is a practical tool to apply Relational-Cultural Theory to your daily life. It highlights relationships that support your mental health and well-being, as well as naming relationships that are create barriers to connection. Because it measures individual qualities across relationships, you can identify areas to improve and relationships that provide safety and support. The CARE Model assesses :

  • Calm: Explain how this dimension assesses the depth and quality of one’s relationships and the sense of being in tune with others.
  • Acceptance: Describe the importance of being true to oneself in relationships and having the courage to express one’s needs and feelings.
  • Resonance: Discuss the role of mutual respect in establishing a growth-fostering relationship and how it builds a foundation for understanding and valuing differences.
  • Energy: Highlight how empathy allows for emotional resonance with others, leading to stronger and more supportive relationships.
