Nora McVey

Nora McVey is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor – Associate. She graduated with her degree from Indiana University in 2023 and is excited to continue growing and learning with the Bloomington Center for Connection. Nora’s prior experience includes working in crisis intervention and advocacy for survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and stalking. This work informs her collaborative and empowering approach to therapy commitment to dismantling oppressive systems. 

Nora is a trauma-responsive clinician who prioritizes forming warm authentic connections with clients. She has experience supporting individuals who have experienced trauma, depression, anxiety, and life transitions. Nora utilizes mindfulness, self-compassion, emotion-focused therapy, and Relational Cultural Theory to support her clients in reaching their goals for change and healing. Nora believes that it’s our human nature to grow through and towards connection and strives to support individuals in developing skills to create and nurture relationships with themselves, others, community, and the natural world.

When she’s not working, Nora loves reading and talking about books with friends, cooking and baking, seeing live music, camping, and thrift shopping.
